Assignment Your completion of a Green Start self-audit questionnaire and subsequent training. Assignments are Services supplied by us.
We authorise you to use the Service for the purpose of completing your Assignment on condition
that you comply with your obligations under this agreement. The authority starts when you enter
into this agreement and ends if this agreement is terminated.
- Search, view, copy, print out and use material from the Service for the purpose of completing your Assignment.
- Bookmark or link to any part of the Service
We may make such amendments to these terms, the Service and the Assignment as in our sole
discretion we deem necessary without notice.
The Service is provided ‘as is’. Any opinions contained in the Service are those of the individual authors concerned and do not necessarily reflect those of the organisations with whom they are associated.
You will use our website, the Service and your Assignment only for improving your business; you may not use it for training other people or for any other commercial use.
You will not:

- Post any comments in the members’ forum on our website which we consider to be derogatory, offensive or libellous and will use the forum in accordance with the guidelines here.

- Promote your business as a member of Green Start or similar
You are responsible for configuring your information technology, computer programs and platform in order to access the Service. You should use your own virus protection software.
You are responsible for completing your Assignment and for follow up training aimed at continuous improvement. If you opt out of receiving follow up emails from us as part of the Service then your use of the Service will be limited or, at our sole discretion, disabled.
We warrant that your use of the Service will not infringe any third party rights.
We will take reasonable steps to ensure that software and data files we supply to you as part of the Service are virus free.
We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the Service is continuous and, except for maintenance, uninterrupted.
We will use reasonable efforts to monitor the discussion forum provided as part of the Service and to bar any comments which, in our sole opinion, are derogatory, offensive or libellous.
Whilst we take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Service is accurate and up-to-date we can accept no liability for any out-of-date material, errors or omissions. We give you no warranty or assurance, except as set out above, regarding the Service. In no event shall VisitEngland be liable for any loss or damages, including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, whatsoever arising from your use of our website, the Service and undertaking your Assignment. This does not affect claims in respect of death or personal injury caused by our negligence and does not limit or exclude any liability for our fraudulent misrepresentation.
This agreement will terminate if you are in material beach of any of its terms or if any non-material breach is not remedied within a period of ten days after we have given you notice of it.
On termination of this agreement you will take reasonable steps to delete the Service and any part of it from your electronic media, including your intranet and electronic storage devices. You are not required to delete that part of your Assignment which you have completed on-line.
VisitEngland provides links to third party websites as part of the Service but is not responsible for the content or accuracy of their conentcontent; nor does VisitEngland endorse any externally linked sites or the views expressed within them.
Data protection and privacy statement
Any personal information that you provide to VisitEngland will be handled by us in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (‘DPA’) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 as amended from time to time. For the purposes of the DPA the Data Controller is VisitEngland.
Information which you provide in the self-audit questionnaire which is part of your Assignment will be stored by us and data therefrom which does not identify you personally may be shared with destination management operators to assist them and us with environmental sustainability initiatives. Your information will not be used for any other purpose.
Copyright and intellectual property
The copyright and all other intellectual property in the materials on our website are owned by VisitEngland unless stated otherwise. You are permitted to print and download extracts from our website subject to the following conditions:
- Use of our documents and related graphics is for your personal use only;
- Any copies of our materials saved on to disk or to any other storage medium may only be used for subsequent viewing purposes for your personal use;
- Our documents and related graphics are not to be modified or used separately in any way;
- VisitEngland’s copyright notice must appear in all copies of your Assignment or other materials derived from this website.
Third Party Rights
This agreement is not intended to benefit anyone other than you and us and in particular no terms of this agreement shall be enforceable under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by a third party.
This agreement is governed by English law and you submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
