Known as one of the busiest cities in the world, Beijing is the capital of China. By size, the city is China’s second largest, just after Shanghai with double the population of London. It hosts around 20 millions inhabitants. Its history goes back more then 3000 years ago, and during its existence it has changed many names.
Beijing gained importance during the Zhou dynasty. Military outpost was situated in the city to safeguard many trade routes between China, Mongolia and Korea. The city is also known as the place where the construction of Great Wall of China began. Because their long history and importance, Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing and Louyang are known as the Four Great Capitals of China. The city holds many large state-owned companies under its roof such as the Beijing Capital International airport which is one of the busiest airports of the world. Notably the city also hosted the 2008 Olympic Games.

Many temples from the ancient world, perfectly preserved in their full glory can still be seen today. For instance, the Buddhist Tanzhe Temple is over 1700 years old and as such the oldest one in Beijing today. Forbidden City is also one of the great attractions that dates back to the early 13th century and was China’s imperial palace. The Palace is the second largest in the world just after Prague Castle. Forbidden City is also a home to many amazing modern buildings like the National Center for the Performing arts. One of them is also an amazing structure of Beijing opera house.

The Beijing financial district holds many great business opportunities and is also known as Chinese Wall Street. Food is also important in Beijing as you have traditional and new-age dishes available in many flavors including vegetarian. One of the most popular dishes is Beijing Roast Duck which every visitor should try. Nightlife in the city is nothing short of spectacular. Many bars and places to unwind are available, such as the Sanlitun bar street which is popular by tourists. Street is home to many clubs, bars, and western restaurants.
