You can always visit the old part of Acapulco town. Most of the action revolves around the Zocalo, main city square. Here you will find a number of coffee bars, shops, all decorated with tropical trees. Worth seeing is the Nuestra Senora de la Soledad Cathedral, beautiful old church of colonial architecture and its Byzantine towers. There are also some great museums in Acapulco, but the most notable building is probably in the San Diego Fort. It was built to protect this Mexican city from attacks – it was once laid to waste by the Dutch. It was later rebuilt and today holds the Acapulco Historical Museum.
